How To Apply Concealer

script>

If you are applying to the under eye area, you want to conceal before applying your foundation. Because you are using concealer a shade lighter than your foundation in this area in order to brighten the eyes and highlight them, it can be a little too obvious and too bright if applied over the foundation. For this area, we are going to use a concealer brush, an almost mini version of the synthetic foundation brush with slightly stiffer bristles. Concealers are applied to cover dark circles around the eyes, thereby grweatly enhancing the appearance of the face.

They are matched to the skin tone and are applied before using the harmony foundation. When any product is applied around the eyes, special care must be taken so that the skin is not stretched. Surprisingly, many women shy away from using concealers because they don't know how to use them, or even why to use them. The big mystery to using a good concealer is to get the right color for your skin tone, and blend it in as much as possible. I generally get a lighter color for winter months, and a darker shade for summer when my face is more tanned.

You want your makeup to blend in with your own beautiful features, and the same rule applies to your concealer. If you are concerned as to what type of concealer or cover stick you may need to disguise imperfections that are a problem for you, here are some brief descriptions to help you make the right choice. Green cover sticks mask redness in the skin, such as pimples and veins. Yellow areas and pigmentation can be covered with a purple cover stick.

Dark under eye circles or bruise like marks can be disguised with an orange cover stick. Before you learn how to apply makeup, you need to know what kind of makeup you're applying. There's makeup for the face, eyes, eyebrows and lips. You certainly don't have to use makeup on all of your facial features, but you can. If you decide to use facial makeup, or concealer, make sure to get a concealer shade that matches your face. If you're concealer is too dark or too pale, it will stand out. If you have nice skin, you can bypass concealer or, you can apply it to areas that contain blemishes.

Start with a clean moisturized face. A liquid make up base has a lighter coverage and will give a more natural look. Use an oil-free one for an oily skin. If your skin is really dry, a cream based foundation may be better but blend it really well so there are no visible "edges".The biggest tip for a natural look is to match the base colour exactly with your skin tone.

This is so important. Test the colour under natural light to make sure and match to your jaw line rather than your wrist If you are doing black and white photos there are a few things to consider about color. For one thing red can show up as gray, unattractive splotches.

Choose neutral colors like copper and brown. Apply these three to four shads darker than you normally would. Black shows up as grey so for the same smoky eye effect you will really have to make it dark. Warm tones also show up a bit lighter that you would think, so try to imagine a red lipstick for its shade instead of color and don't forget to powder!

Applying Concealer This Spring Can Give You A New Look

script>

Now that it’s warming up a bit and the snow and ice is melting away, it’s a good time to clean out your makeup bag and focus on refreshing your look (and your beauty arsenal) with some essential make up tools that really matter. There’s a ton of different products out there for eyes, lips, and skin, and it can be almost overwhelming to choose the colors that are right for you. When it comes down to it, the simple basics are what really bring fresh youthfulness to your look, which is exactly what spring makeup is all about.

Spring is the time to throw out those old make up bottles and makeover your beauty routine with a few quality basics. These three essentials will brighten up your look this spring and give your beauty a boost!

 1. Secret Weapon Concealer: Even the most perfect skin can use a little pick-me-up from time to time, and knowing the best way of applying concealer is one of the best kept beauty secrets. Just a few dots of a good, quality concealer hides any sort of imperfections and really does make a difference in creating a beautiful complexion. I recommend Amazing Concealer, which is the best coverage concealer in my opinion! It comes in a great little travel size tube and is the perfect size to slip into a makeup bag or in a purse when I’m on the go. Because it is ultra-pigmented, just a little bit of this stuff goes a long way! It’s also waterproof and moisturizing, so it will never dry out skin or get cakey. It’s true that nothing can compare to getting your beauty rest, drinking lots of water, and eating your fruits and veggies, but this stuff makes it look like you’ve gotten a full 8-10 hours of sleep in a matter of seconds! Glamour magazine even pointed it out as a top-notch makeup tool and I don’t go anywhere without it.

 How to rock it:

After putting on your moisturizer, think strategy. Just a few well-placed dots in the trouble spots will really make a difference in your complexion. Around the eye area, a few dots around the inside corners will brighten your eyes and erase eye circles. You can also place a few dots along the brow line and along nose to brighten the complexion and give a youthful appearance. Say goodbye to tiny imperfections such as broken capillaries around the nose and cheeks, and get rid of any redness, blotchiness, or blemishes with a few dots of a good concealer.

 2. Pinch-me cheeks: Ever seen someone who just has that youthful glow you can’t quite put your finger on? The secret to a fresh look is glowing skin and rosy cheeks. Blush is so important and often underrated in its ability to really highlight cheekbones, bring contour to your face, and really pull together your whole look.

How to get cheeky: Smile while putting on your blush. It won’t just boost your mood, it will also help you isolate the apples of your cheeks, which is the area where you should apply a light pink, natural-looking blush with a big makeup brush. Start at the apples and sweep upwards towards the temples, making sure to keep everything nicely blended along the hairline. I love In the Buff blush from Amazing Cosmetics, which is a trendy color for spring and really gives a rosy glow that looks super natural. Another trick is to put a few dots of AmazingConcealer, which I think is the best coverage concealer, under the eyes and near the cheeks to contrast the blush and to smooth out any blemishes to allow your cheek color to really pop.

 3. Kiss-me lips: If you’re like me, you loved the red lip trend that made a come back recently, but you aren’t necessarily bold enough to try it in every day life. For spring especially, a natural, moisturized look is best (and much more kissable!). The idea isn’t to pile on lip liner and lipstick, but to get plump, full, moisturized lips by applying a simple gloss in a color that compliments your skin tone.

How to score the perfect pout: Begin by getting your lips in shape. No, this doesn’t involve exercise, but it does mean that you should make sure to exfoliate any dry skin around your lips and mouth before applying any type of moisturizing gloss or balm. A good trick is to gently rub a warm, wet wash cloth with a little bit of petroleum jelly on your lips in a circular motion. The petroleum jelly will be gentle on sensitive skin around your mouth, and the washcloth will slough off any chapped skin and leave your pucker tingly and looking plump! After prepping your pout, apply your favorite moisturizer or followed by a few dots of light concealer in the center of your lips. You might think that applying concealer to lips is strange, but it actually catches light and creates an even fuller lip (no lip injections necessary!). Finally, swipe on a sheer pink gloss and you are ready to break some hearts!

How To Apply Concealer The Right Way

script>

Cosmetics are meant to enhance your natural beauty, not to hide it, and definitely not meant to cause skin problems. Concealer is a product that many women, however, do not know how to properly apply. Concealer can ultimately cause the skin to look silky smooth and flawless when applied the correct way. The way most women apply it usually makes the make-up looked caked on or makes the skin look oily, lifeless, and dry. Sometimes the wrong application can even cause dermatology problems. The following tips can help you learn how to apply concealer the correct way, no matter what brand you use.

Tip #1: Use only new, clean products to apply the concealer.

You can apply concealer with your fingers, a brush, a make-up sponge, or a cotton swab. However, no matter how you choose to apply the make-up, make sure that the application product is clean and, if possible, new. When you apply concealer with old tools, the leftover caked on make-up from last application can cause clumps and uneven application. It can also harbor bacteria that can stick to your face and causes blemishes and other dermatological issues. Even if you use your fingers, be sure to wash your hands thoroughly before-hand, and always wash your face before applying makeup.

Tip #2: Choose a concealer that perfectly matches your skin tone.

Without the perfectly matched make-up, it does not matter what application process you use. Today, most of the major brands work well with all skin types, but you have to find the best color for your skin tone. Do not just look at the bottles and choose the color that seems right. You may be surprised to find that your face is a lot darker or lighter than you think. Concealer is made with either cool or warm undertones, so even if you get the right darkness, you still may not have the perfect color. Test out small sizes to find the one that is right for you, and remember, you may need a darker color in the summertime if you spend a lot of time outside. Many cosmetic lines have transparent color swatches that you can put your hand under and match your skin tone to the concealer hue.

Tip #3: Apply foundation before applying concealer.

Concealer is meant to do just what the name implies and conceal. It should not be the first thing you put on your face, since concealer is too heavy for an all-over coat that evens out your skin tone. First, put on foundation to do that job; then use concealer to cover up the problem spots. If you use concealer like foundation, you will most likely end up with a caked-on, heavy look.

Tip #4: Set the concealer with a pressed powder.

After applying foundation and concealer, set your face with a pressed powder. Many women skip this step, but if you do, you will likely find that the concealer has worn off by the middle of the day. Pressed powder can actually save you money, since it means you have to apply your concealer less often.

Tip #5: Use a light touch.

For the best application, apply the concealer with a light hand. You can always add more if needed, but with most great products, you actually need to use very little to cover up blemishes. If the concealer comes out to thick, you can draw more attention to those spots on your face. Remember, foundation first, then concealer. If you need more concealer, add it then, but most concealers will likely cover any blemish with just a single coat.

Tip #6: Use special concealer to cover up bruises, dark circles under your eyes, and other hard-to-cover blemishes.

Regular concealer might not work for every person in every instance. For example, if you are trying to cover a scar, dark circles under your eyes, a bruise, or other contrasted blemishes, you may need a special concealer to get the proper coverage. Apply this concealer after foundation and a light touch with your regular concealer. You may be surprised to find that you do not actually need the heavy-duty make-up in most cases. We are usually extra critical of our own faults, but the blemishes on your face may not be that bad, calling only for a regular concealer.

Concealer should be used sparingly, and if you apply it with a discerning eye, it will not look like you are wearing any make-up at all. The right concealer and other make-up products can be your best friends, making your skin look alive, healthy, and fresh, while the wrong application for these products just will not do your natural beauty the proper justice.
